4 Al Mandaloun Restaurant, Beyrouth Lebanon
Mar 15

This upscale fish restaurant is on the is situated downtown on the side side and is one of the more expensive places to eat but the experience is well worth it as you will see in the service and the quality of the food. The interior is well appointed and very very rich in the atmosphere.
The next few photos will show the fish on display when you first walk in. There was mackerel, porgies, red mullet (about 50 usd a pound no idea why it is so expensive as it is locally caught) crab, lobster, sea base and whatever else was fresh caught the day before.
crab displayed as they would prepare it
the red mullet and the mackerel also shrimps on the right
Before we get to the food this was my view from my table the restaurant is sitting facing the sea
The Houmus arrives as well as some other dips with lettuce and fried thin pita

if you are watching your carbs the lettuce is the way to go to enjoy the Mezz
The Tabbouleh here was outstanding
These octopus were perfectly cooked and seasoned that had the flavor of garlic and a slight bit of cumin. I can assure you that this was melt in my mouth tender and the note of the spices just crept into your senses was really amazing.
Here is the ultimate in grilled squid, they must have been grilled on high heat for maybe 45 seconds. you had a silky soft chew to them with a hint of char. the sauce was sweet soy of some sort which i did not use. lemon was just perfect.

The star of the show has arrived, our porgies, red mullet and mackerel all lightly fried (
we bake fish at home you go out for fried fish) this is just perfect with lemon. Open it butterflied, the grab the head and pull the head and the bones out and you are left with beautiful fish meat. Just lemon and maybe a little tahini is all you need this was heavan period.
