What may be unusual to some is just heaven to another and this is one for me. I was introduced to a version of this Lebanese dessert while in Lebanon many years ago to see one of my best friends. You don’t really order dessert in a Lebanese restaurant it just comes at the end of the meal and I mean, fresh fruits, halva, marinated fruits, molasses with tahini and dried pits and a version of this desert called Ishta. It is made with a sorted clotted cream/ricotta type cheese with some crushed nuts of some sort , cinnamon and honey. Most of the restaurants have their own bee hives in the back to make their own honey which is really incredible and gives each restaurant a unique taste to their honey. I was at the green market today and I picked up some fresh whole milk ricotta and I just knew what I needed to do with it. This is also a healthier alternative to higher fat and sugar desserts but I promise you this one will hit the spot. Give it a try American I am sure you will love this one!
